Finning UK & Ireland keeps its customers' machines running, providing maintenance and repair services designed to reduce downtime and maximise machine performance. Its engineers respond to callouts wherever a machine goes down - often on remote sites far from a mains supply. The business operates over 500 vans across the UK and Ireland, with 86 percent of those vehicles delivering field service support.
The challenge
On remote sites, engineers need dependable power for heavy-duty tools and instruments in all weather conditions - and they need it wherever the work takes them. Traditional fuel generators have been an industry go-to for years but are noisy, emission heavy and add to the environmental impact of every call-out. With trailing cables and manual handing restrictions adding to on-site challenges.
Finning wanted to remove these barriers, providing their teams with access to reliable, safe and sustainable power no matter where they are - all while keeping unexpected delays for customers to a minimum.
The solution
Finning invested in 29 Instagrid GO (110v) units a universal power source for their field engineers – wherever they are.
Smaller and lighter than generators and capable of powering their on-board tools and equipment – Instagrid units give engineers the capability to respond quickly, access power on demand – no matter the location. And with in-vehicle charging the teams can rely on a consistent remote power supply throughout the day.
The results
The Instagrid GO units are providing Finning's engineers with a versatile, sustainable power source they can carry straight to the point of repair - whether that is a construction site, a quarry or agricultural land - minimising trailing cables and eliminating noise pollution and local emissions.
