Electric Sun: instagrid ONE max batteries in film rental
Everyone working in the film industry knows that a filmset requires astonishing amount of electricity – especially when filming in an off-grid setting this can become a challenge. Pulling long cables is time consuming, creates tripping hazards, and you might face a drop in electricity quality. Fossil fuel generators on the other hand are heavy, clunky and take over your filmset with the horrible noise.
instagrid portable power systems have become a no-brainer for many of our customers in the film industry, whether it’s 1) replacing all previous electricity sources with instagrid ONE max units in small filmsets, or 2) complementing the electricity infrastructure with the portable power system in bigger filmsets.
Our customer, Electric Sun, a film rental company have had instagrid ONE max batteries for about a year in their rental selection. The customers of Electric Sun have mainly replaced fossil fuel generators with the system – making filmsets more silent and environmentally-friendly.
“instagrid ONE max systems are perfect for operating a wide range of LED lights, providing us reliable and safe electricity wherever needed. We are happy to be able to offer this solution to our customers.” -Jan-Peter von Borstel, Technical Manager at Electric Sun
Environmental impacts of film production are paid much more importance nowadays, and many film productions take the topic of sustainability into account in different actions. instagrid ONE max batteries don’t have any local emissions, which also improves the working environment by improving air quality. Over the lifetime, the user can decide the source of energy they want to charge their instagrid system with – so the used energy can be 100% from renewable sources.
Emissions are still generated of course in the production of the battery, but the lifetime emissions, for example, when comparing to fossil fuel generator are significantly lower.
But can it truly power all the devices at a filmset? With the instagrid ONE max, you can power any 230V film equipment. With the system’s 3600W continuous power and 18000W peak power, there is no problem powering devices that need a high startup power. The energy capacity of instagrid ONE max is 2.1kWh, and the charging time from 0 to 100% is 2,5 hours – so, you can even charge the unit during the workday. In addition to complete silence, decreased emissions and light weight – did we forgot to mention, the system weighs only 20kg – instagrid ONE max’s IP54+ rating is an important feature for many of our customer in the film industry. The IP rating makes the instagrid ONE max system water and dust resistant. instagrid batteries are used widely on construction sites – so you can imagine that the system is robust enough for any kind of environment 😉
“All of this has convinced us that instagrid ONE max is the right product for our company.” -Jan-Peter von Borstel, Technical Manager at Electric Sun
